Frequently Asked Questions

Here we have compiled a list of FAQs – the sorts of things that members and other interested people ask us. If something you’d like to know is not listed here then please do Contact us. We’d love to hear from you and we’re happy to help.

What is CrossFit?

We lift, throw, jump, climb, run, row, roll, stretch, balance and anything else we can think of, and we keep it varied – no two days are the same.

We mix together elements of Strength, Gymnastics and Cardio training to prepare your body for any eventuality. We use high intensity interval training to maximise results.

We strive to be the best we can and the results speak for themselves. Not only do people get fitter fast, but they feel better and more energized too. We focus on health – but the side effects include improved aesthetics – strong and toned bodies – A welcome bonus!

Here’s a short video we made of one of our classes and some of our awesome members working hard.

What does it involve?

Our CrossFit classes are group classes where you join part of the growing community at CrossFit FRF and share the enthusiasm and motivation of others – all under the close supervision of our experienced coaches.

No two days are the same – the workouts are always different and this keeps you interested, motivated and the results keep coming.

We use a lot of different movements – but there are no pre-requisites for joining us. We regularly run one week beginner “Elements” courses to get you started on the right foot. If you are interested then contact us now to find out when the next course is.

What makes you different from other gyms?

We differ from other gyms by focusing on personal contact. Our experienced trainers will give you individual attention, encouragement, help with technique, keep you safe and fast track your results.

We train in group classes which keeps motivation and fun high. No two days are the same – our workouts are constantly varied.

How fit do I need to be?

You don’t – that is why we are here! This truly is a frequently asked question, and it obviously is something that concerns many – but there is no need to worry – every workout is catered to your own level.
The only pre-requisite is a willingness to learn and to put in 100% effort. If you can manage that, then you will fit right in at CrossFit FRF.

Do you have a beginners’ class?

Yes, for new people we offer a one week beginners class to get you up to speed – gradually increasing your fitness and learning new techniques. Check here to see when our next block is starting. If it doesn’t suit – then contact us – we will be able to work something out.

We also offer one off intro classes every Tuesday night at 6:30 PM and Thursday Night at 6:30 PM. Please let us know if you’d like to learn more or to come along to one of our classes.

Can I join in if I am injured?

Yes! If you can walk you can do CrossFit – and if you can’t walk then you can still do CrossFit! Our coaches are experienced trainers and are always serving up alternative exercises to help with rehabilitation, work around injuries or to just make the workout more accessible for people newer to our classes.

Please let us know of any injuries or restrictions and we will do our very best to accommodate you.

Is there a minimum or maximum age?

NO! All are welcome and if you feel you can’t keep up, don’t worry, we’ll find something for you to do so that you are constantly working towards improving your fitness. We also offer kids’ and teens’ classes for the younger generation.

How do I get started?

We offer two trial classes per week, these are free introductory sessions that allow you to come and try one of our constantly varied workouts before you sign up to our Elements Course.

Once you have tried a class or if you already know you are keen, then the next step is to get on our beginner’s Elements classes. Our Element’s course runs for one week on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6:30 PM.

Check here for more details – including alternatives if you can’t make those times work.

What do I wear / need to bring?

Gym clothes – Shorts and a T-shirt are the most common choices – something that is comfortable to move in. Bring a sweat towel too if you’re likely to drip and a drink bottle is a must.

We work out in shoes and there are lots to choose from. As you get more experienced you may like to find something specific – but for now just bring whatever exercise appropriate footwear you have.

How long is a class?

Our main CrossFit classes last for 60 minutes. We also have express classes which go for 45 minutes.

How much are classes?

We offer either 10 trip concession cards or Monthly memberships. Check out our pricing page for all the details.

Can I bring my friend to a class?

Yes please, we love new faces. We have a free intro every Tuesday evening at 6:30PM and another one on Thursday evening at 6:30 PM. These are the best classes to bring friends along to. Just let us know that they will be popping along and we can ensure we have a trainer to look after them.

What about kids?

If your kids are old enough to look after themselves then they are welcome at the gym – if they’re not then bring them along to our Mums and Bubs classes – Safe and effective group training for Mums or Dads.

We also offer kids’ and teens’ classes for the younger generation.

What’s the difference between your CrossFit Class and Conditioning class?

Both classes will get you a great work out – Our CrossFit class is 60 minutes and has a slightly higher skill requirement – so we ask that you take one of our introduction courses before you join in.

Our conditioning class is shorter at 30 minutes and still uses a lot of the same movements and methodologies as our CrossFit classes. We just keep it a little less complicated so anyone can do it.

Can Visiting CrossFitters attend classes?

Yes please, we’d love to have you! Just contact us to let us know you are coming in – you can reach Gerard on 021 74 32 74. If you are in town for a while you might like to check out one of our 10 trip concessions card.

Is there a time when I can workout outside of class time?

Yes – we have multiple Open Gym sessions per week. In our open gym sessions Check our latest timetable here.

Do you have parking?

We have limited on-site parking. There is also plenty of on street parking available and it is free and close.
Please respect the other tenants that we share the driveway with and only park in our marked car spaces. Our landlord has been known to tow offenders away.
